Housing updates

Gosh, it has been quite a while since someone has asked me, "What's New?" and I have said, "Nothing much." In fact everything is new. I applied for the MFA program at UC Davis in mid-January, ended my tenure with Synchronicity at the end of March, put my Atlanta condo on the market the beginning of April (and went to Costa Rica!) and went under contract today! My current dining and living room are pictured on the right.

Not only that, but I decided on a place to live in Davis. I have my application to J Street Apartments by my side and will mail it first thing in the morning. It's a complex in East Davis and is about a mile and a half from campus. It should only be a short bike ride to school or I can take the E bus. Listen to me -- Go Aggies!

The big question right now is when to move. Since I close on my condo on June 22, but planned to stay in Atlanta until Souper Jenny closes at the end of July, I am not sure if I should start the drive right after closing. The other option is staying with Souper Jenny and Jonah for the month and storing my stuff in one of those portage shippers.

At least I don't have to decide that right now.

After a long day of Souper Jenny cookbook meetings followed by dinner and a viewing of Blades of Glory, I am getting into bed with my book. I am currently reading Dreamland by Kevin Baker. I'll let you know how it goes.

The Journey Begins

Okay, so I was going to wait until I was on the road to begin the saga, but since my condo is on the market with a good offer, and I am officially making housing and moving plans -- I thought I would begin now. I will find out tomorrow if the counteroffer is accepted and then I need to decide when I move from Atlanta, GA to Davis, CA and all of the hows. How to move my crap, my car and my little kitties. My father has offered to drive with me across country, which is fantastic. However the thought of driving with my 2 cats Lincoln & Maxie, just about terrifies me.

Need to take a little break from the insanity with some American Idol.
