So today has been a bit of a splurge. Early rising to clean my apartment and then some oatmeal with dried cranberries, fresh banana and real maple syrup. I am an egg gal and never make hot cereal. Or at least it's rare. It was such a welcome change - that and I'm out of eggs...
I rode my bike up the get Tony a parking pass for his 2-week stay and then hopped on BART to meet and handle the Goin' Gaga load-out.
Then the fun began.
I hopped back on BART when we were done and went down to Montgomery and treated myself to lunch at Tadich Grill. The sand dabs were on my 7x7 list. They were expensive, and to be honest, not all that exciting. I do think I need to reconsider this list. I should probably check and see if they are on the current list - I bet not. Well, I was wrong. They are indeed there. Either way, it was nice to sit and treat myself. I certainly cannot do it on a daily basis, but I am tired of saying no. The gentleman next to me dropped $75 for lunch (including 3 glasses of wine) which I think is excessive, but if that's his splurge then good for him! For me it's about getting closer to living the life I want to live. Treating myself well. For the last few days I have taken the time to put make-up on, choose an outfit and don some simple jewelry. While I have gotten some compliments, it's not about that. I really do feel better.
After lunch wandered to the post office and to buy sunglasses in the Walgreen's. And after stopping in the Apple Store to use their wifi to check my email, I stopped for coffee and a Cannele at La Boulange. It was also on my original list, but is not on the new one. The flavor of the pastry was nice, but it didn't taste fresh. The environment was not welcoming so I decided to head on out to Benefit in the Union Square Macy's.
I was approached right away upon entry and got a nice little makeover. I decided to purchase a few of the items - and $100 later I was out the door. My eyes are super dramatic right now. Since then I have been bouncing from hotel lobby to hotel lobby looking for wifi. I don't need anymore coffee and needed a warm, stylish environment. I started at the Hotel Nikko and by chance stumbled on the Rrazz Room - the top cabaret space/nightclub in town. Since there was no free wifi, I read Week 7 of the Artists Way and then asked one of the bartenders if I could peek in the Rrazz. It was a fairly small room. Not intimidating at all. I wonder if I'll be in town long enough to play there.
So instead of stopping and getting a manicure (I mean a lady of leisure can only spend so much money...), I walked around the corner to the Clift - a smaller boutique hotel - where I am currently sitting in the lounge.
Tony should be on his way in soon and we are going to see Tales of the City tonight at ACT. I'm sensing after a cocktail, it will be the perfect end to my splurgified artists date!
